One disadvantage that led to early rejection of Arabic numerals in was that numbers could be more easily forged than in Roman numerals - it was easier to change 0 to 6 or 9 than to change V to X. That's why we have to write out numbers on checks - a different system might eliminate that problem.
The main disadvantage in signed numbers is a negative number can be represented in three different forms 1.normal magnitude form. 2.1's complement form. 3.2's complement form. This may cause confusion.....

The binary number system expresses numbers in a much longer string of digits than the decimal system. Eg.
