What does the term "asynchronous" mean in relation to counters?

  2. clock signal is connected to the clock input of the first flipflop.The clock input of the remaining flipflop is triggered by output of the previous stage.

Counter circuits made from cascaded J-K flip-flops where each clock input receives its pulses from the output of the previous flip-flop invariably exhibit a ripple effect, where false output counts are generated between some steps of the count sequence. These types of counter circuits are called asynchronous counters, or ripple counters.

  4. in a cascaded arrangement,when tha output of 1 flipflop is given as the clock pulse of the next flipflop ts called as asynchronous closk pulse..i.e.ts not a simultaneous clock pulse.

  9. WHEN THE CLOCK PULSE IS GIVEN RAMDOMLY TO THE FLIPFLOPS...IT IS CALLED AS ASYNCHRONOUS IN COUNTERS...
